Yak to the Future!
Bottle-Fed Calves to Appear in Annual Warren 4th of July Parade
Mad River Valley, Vermont’s newest farm business – the Vermont Yak Company – announced plans today to march with three yak calves in a “Yak to the Future” float as part of the Warren 4th of July “Back to the Future” festivities.
“We’re looking forward to introducing our yaks to our friends, neighbors, and visitors here in the Mad River Valley,” observed Kate Williams, “and the parade seems like a wonderful way to do so.” Farmer and yak business partner Dave Hartshorn agreed. “The Warren 4th is a time-honored Mad River Valley tradition,” he concluded, “ and a natural place to introduce our yaks to our community.”
In addition to the yaks, the herders will be handing our free “Yak to the Future” bumper stickers and selling “Vermont Yak Company” T-Shirts to celebrate the big debut.
The Vermont Yak Company Mission is defined as “raising and breeding grass-fed yak for organic meat and fiber to help build a more diverse
and sustainable agrarian future for the greater Green Mountain region.”
